We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Author responsible for the delivery of Component Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts List, Service Bulletins, Service Information Letters, Temporary Revisions, Installation Docs and producing technical illustrations, which meet the requirements defined by ATA iSpec2200.

Key responsibilities of the Technical Author role are as follows:

• Responsible for the Component Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts List, in order to meet the programme requirements.
• Responsible for the Component Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts List, Service Bulletins, Service Information Letters, and Temporary Revisions throughout the programmes life.
• Must be able to work to a schedule and managed time accordingly to meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal/external customers and suppliers.
• Liase with Design and Technical Office.
• Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Generate and/or revise specifications.
• From time to time, Technical Author must be prepared to undertake other tasks as requested by their immediate supervisors.
• Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
• Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in BMS documentation.

The key skills of the Technical Author are as follows;

• Competent user of the following software:
1. Epic Editor.
2. IsoDraw.
3. MS Word.
• An understanding of Simplified Technical English. (ASD-STE100).
• A good working knowledge of ATA specifications including iSpec2200.
• An understanding of MS office software.
• Familiarity with company procedures and best practices.
• A good working knowledge of the companies change control process.

Personal Attributes required for the Technical Author are as follows:

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good team working skills.
• The ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Willing to travel to support company objectives (including other countries).
• Good working ethic.
• Driving License.

Personal attributes for the Technical Author’s job are as follows:

• Engineering degree, ONC/HNC or City & Guilds in an engineering related field.
• Experience working within a Technical Publications office environment.
