Case Supervisor
Our Regulatory team act for numerous clients in relation to fitness to practice investigations covering a wide range of professions.
We are currently seeking a Case Supervisor to join this team to assist in the handling of fitness to practice cases involving midwives and nurses. The position is suitable for a newly qualified – 2 year qualified Solicitor, or a qualified Legal Executive (ILEX ). A healthcare background would be desirable but not essential, however a good understanding of the role of healthcare professionals is important.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with and provide supervision to a paralegal, and to fulfil the role of a Case Supervisor. This position is a full time position based in the Firm’s Cardiff office.

JOB PURPOSE
- Manage a caseload of fitness to practice cases involving midwives and nurses. Includes: preparing case investigation plans, taking and drafting witness statements, drafting charges, working to strict time and quality standards.
- To provide clients with high a quality legal service
KEY DUTIES AND CONTRIBUTIONS (COMPETENCIES)
- Preparing case investigation plans
- Supervising one or more paralegals within the team.
- Working under the supervision of a senior case supervisor
- Drafting witness statements - often over the telephone and sometimes in person
- Shows sensitivity in handling witnesses
- Uses a bespoke case management system
- Drafting charges against midwives and nurses
- Working to strict time limits
- Working to strict quality standards
- Maintaining and Updating Management Information
KEY MEASURES
Work to client's expectations particularly in terms of quality and timeliness.
a) Fee earning:-
- Meeting time recording and billing targets.
- Drafting documentation such as witness statements as appropriate
b) Non fee earning:-
- Supervision of one or more paralegals
- Ensuring that documentation is raised on a timely basis
- Management of files, file reviews, MBRs etc
- Appropriate record keeping eg Lexcel
DIMENSIONS
- Required to carry out routine work.
- Work closely supervised and checked on a daily basis by a senior case supervisor.
- Required to achieve an annual cost target
- Required to undertake an annual number of chargeable hours
- Training will be provided
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Newly qualified – 2 year qualified Solicitor or qualified Legal Executive (ILEX)
- Healthcare back ground desirable but not essential
- Some experience of regulatory work would be an advantage
- Some litigation experience is desirable
- Proven planning and organising ability - must be able to plan ahead; organise own workload
- Care, accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong, sensitive communication skills are essential
- Must be a good team player
- Keyboard and IT skills
